Living on the Edge-five 16"x12" Acrylic on Canvas.
Summers over and fall has arrived, the fishing season is over for another year and its time to wrap things up and prepare for winter.
This was inspired by the fishing stages of Newfoundland and the Maritime provinces of Canada. These little wooden buildings are traditionally painted red although they can be seen in various other colors and are literally perched on top of the rocks and jetties by the water's edge and in some very remote areas. They would only be used for several months of the year when the fish would be landed and processed for salting and drying etc. They have been battered by the incessant winds and waves of the North Atlantic and have seen better days but oh what stories they can tell. Take the time to listen , you never know what secrets you might hear. Enjoy.
